Kathy began playing Cornet at the age of 8 whilst at Thorpe Hesley Junior school, and played in the brass band there until she moved on to Old Hall comprehensive school, where she also joined the school band.
She joined Thorpe Hesley in the mini band section as soon as she could play her first 5 notes, and has remained with the band ever since. Over the years she has moved up through the cornet section, to Principle Cornet player.
Kathy has also played with Rotherham Youth Brass Band and Golcar Band, but now devotes her playing to Thorpe Hesley Brass Band.
